Wednesday Wishes

want list
Every girl has a mental wish list that they add to continuously as they walk through the mall or surf the web. Actually, I guess I can't speak for every girl so let's just be plain, I do! I mean having a "wish list" really comes in handy when someone asks, "What you want for your birthday?" (mine is next week btw ;) ) Or if like me, you live on a (small) budget and you don't always get to splurge. Having a list helps you choose what to buy when you come across a little extra moolah. These are a few things I have spotted in my recent mall visits and screen shopping (internet so I couldn't say window lol).

1. Floral Blazer
2. Leopard flats
3. White shift dress
4. EXTRA chunky/sparkly necklace
5. Silver Metallic Narrow toe pumps

These are just a few of my fashion crushes that I would love as staples in my closet.
What are you wishing for?

Keep it Flowing: How to wear a Maxi Skirt

Maxi skirt

I have sooo many goal/aspirations for myself that at times it feels like im not close to reaching any of them! I learned a good lesson once about the differenence between a river and a flood. A river has a focus and flows along a specific path, while a flood is just all over the place and destroys everything in its path. I have to admit that I've been more of a flood lately. Focus has not been my companion. I mean, staying focused is hard work! It takes time, intent, and serious discipline to be and remain focused on your goals. I'm soooo not there but hey, recognizing that is a good start. I need to be more disciplined just for the sake of mental health! But the truth is we often know what's needed but aren't willing to make it happen because its uncomfortable. Discomfort is not welcomed; at least not in my world lol buuuut I am seeing that it is needed for growth. So, while I do not welcome it I am willing to trrry to endure it when I have to. I want to be a river! Flood no more...

How to wear a baggy shirt

how to wear a baggy shirt, pink shirt, button up, oversized

Baggy shirts can be so un-flattering. And sometimes we have no idea how to wear them. I am learning and have learned to be more imaginative with my clothing and to do more than what the hanger does for my clothes. Especially shirts! It is so easy to just take the garment as is, and wear it the way you found it on the hanger or mannequin. But lately I've been finding it so fun to play with my outfit and discover how I want to wear each piece. Once you get into it, you start to realize there are so many options. We seriously limit ourselves. You can really make any outfit exactly what you want it to be. Ultimately, you want to wear the clothes. You don't want the clothes wearing you! Here are some that tips that have helped me.

  Tuck it in
forever21, pink shirt, button up, tuck in, tucked in,

Tuck your shirts in people! It is seriously one of the easiest ways to change your whole look! Especially if you are wearing a skirt. It is so simple. I didn't think of this for a looong time. I'd just not buy the shirt or "let it all hang out." *Tangent* I also went to a middle school where it was required to tuck your shirt in and wear a belt. So, for a long time I LOATHED tucking my shirts in and even wearing belts. I'm actually still working on the whole belt thing lol For the sake of styling yes, I love belts. But on my leisure trip to the grocery store, It's not even an option! *Tangent over* Although, as I'm building my wardrobe, I've been holding close to this tip! Try it...seriously, right now. Tuck your shirt in! loll

Belt it

how to wear, oversized, pink shirt, belted, cinch waist

Wearing a belt can make all the difference. It shows off the shirt and also your figure. This look is super versatile too because their are so many types of belts to choose from and even more colors! Cinching your waist with a belt is perfect if you are going for a feminine look. I really am just getting into belts. Now that I've noticed how they can transform an outfit I seriously just want to start s belt collection. I feel so behind lol So if you know where to buy affordable belts of every kind let me know!

Tie it

forever21, pink oversized shirt, how to wear

I discovered this tip while surfing my favorite fashion blogs and I'm so glad I did! This is my GO-TO for long baggy shirts. I feel like tied shirts are so cute! For the longest time I just thought that people were buying tied shirts(and some were) but then I noticed that they were actually just tying their shirt.

Styling your clothes is definitely an art form so don't be afraid to be creative with your clothing. Try new things, work with shapes and colors! Everyday I'm finding new ways to wear the clothes I have and I'm excited to share everything I learn with you!

How do you wear baggy shirts?

What's your type?

As promised I wanted to come and bring you guys some fit and styling tips.
Styling and proper fit go hand-in-hand when it comes to creating different looks. You can style an amazing look but if it is not the proper fit for your body type, it will look horrible! So let's start there; with body types
There are four main body types:

Knowing your body type helps so much when deciding what wear. For example if you are well endowed up top, wearing crew neck or turtle neck tops will only enhance and draw more attention to the area. This generally can make you look larger than you are and just overall does not look good (in my opinion). Another example would be if you are pear-shaped and choose skinny jeans over a straight-legged jean. Skinny jeans can often make the pear shaped girl look larger because it ecentuates the hips and thighs which are already prominent for pear shapes.
Here are some detailed definitions so that you can find your body type!
Pear/triangle: The hips are wider than the shoulders. Usually have a smaller bust and a semi-defined waist. Can also have larger thighs and be a lil' (or a lot) bootylicious! (think beyonce; she's pear-shaped)
Apple/inverted triangle: The shoulders are broader than the hips. The waist line is slightly defined and usually (but not always) have a larger bust. Example; Jessica Simpson.
Hourglass: This is the most wanted shape although, I think they're all beautiful! This shape is when the shoulders and the hips are the same width. Also the waist is very defined.
Example; Kim Karshian
.
Rectangle: The waist and shoulders are about the same width but the waist is not really defined. Example; Victoria Beckham
What's your shape??

Top 10 Closet Essentials

Top Ten Essentials

There are essentials that every closet needs. These pieces are the foundation of our wardrobe. While it is great to be trendy and follow the new trends that come out each season, without essential pieces  you'll find yourself in style confusion. You will end up with a closet full of clothes that don't style well together; like I did. I discovered this accidental tragedy (drama) one day when I could not find anything to wear (seriously!). I was looking and looking to no avail. Then it hit me! None of my clothes make outfits. I had tons of beautiful, trendy, pieces but found it extremely difficult to put them together. I realized my closet was missing most of the foundational styling pieces. If you are experiencing the same dilemma or just need a closet makeover, try investing in some of these closet essentials! Here's my top ten:

1. Blazer:
Great for wearing over any top and some dresses.

2. Cardigan:
Also great for wearing on top of different shirts and dresses

3. White Button up:
This piece is very versatile. It can be worn over some tops, under sweaters, tucked in, left open, partially tucked, belted, etc.

4. Pullover:
Pullover's can be worn over button ups and also alone.

5. Jeans:
Buy jeans in different colors and styles to add variety to your closet. Don't just stick to your favorites be adventurous!

6. Colored Pants:
Different colored pants make all the difference seriously! I used to only wear jeans unless I had an interview or something then I'd wear dress pants. Doing this made all of my outfits look pretty much the same. Wearing colored pants has really given my style a refresher.

7. Casual dress/Skirt:
These are your everyday dresses and skirts. These are to be paired with cardigans, blazers, pullovers, button up, etc. They can also be belted.

8. Dressy Top:
Perfect for dressing up when you don't want to wear a dress.

9. Little Black Dress:
Every girl needs one!

10. Accessories:
DO NOT forget to accessorize! Sometimes accessories are all it takes to pull a look together.

ClassicLoves: March

Okay, Let's talk about what I'm loving this month!

First up is Chevron.
I am LOVE-ING me some chevron! It is so chic! Hey, you can't go wrong with a 2-4-1; Chevron works on your body and in home decor. Done RIGHT(keyword) Chevron can work for all body types. LOVE!

Next is royal blue.
This color is so electric! I love looking at it. Royal blue can liven up any plain outfit. It is the perfect pop of color! It also looks great on shoes and accesories(ie. bags, jewelry,scarves,etc.).

Chunky Chains.
Chains are so hot right now! I love the way they look against solid colors. I prefer the gold metal. It looks so classic to me. I feel like these are a definite must have!

Lastly, Arm parties.
What girl does not love sparkle? Arm parties, if you so choose, can be the ultimate sparkle to your outfit. They are also cool expressions of personality. I'm loving all of the creativity I've been seeing in the arm parties. Party on girls!
